In the study there were two groups of patients comparable by basic clinical and antropometric parameters : studiedgroup – 37 patients with a syndrome of irritated bowel and control group – 35 patients. When analyzing peculiarities ofpsychological status , functional state of the central nervous system and psychosocial indicators of working stress it was foundout that in patients from the studied group there were increased values of personal and reactive anxiety as well as morefrequent indicators of professional stress. EEG examinations showed signs of stem cell activation, higher average values of EEGfrequency and signs of interhemisphere asymmetry with right hemisphere activation. The obtained data prove that changes revealed in the subgroup of patients with the syndrome of irritated bowel may beregarded as additional markers of this disease.Key words: psychological status, functional state of the central nervous system, psychosocial indicators, chronic stress, functional gastroenterologic disorders.
