Malignant tumours in the ovaries are the leading cause of deaths in the structure of genitalia neoplasms. In Russia ovariancancer incidence and mortality are steadily increasing. A high mortality rate is explained by late diagnostics more than in 70%of cases. Difficulties in diagnostics at early stages are determined by the absence of typical symptoms of the disease at its earlyperiod. One of the ways to overcome the abovementioned difficulties is population screening with so-called “imaging”(visual)noninvasive technologies for early diagnostics of ovarian cancer. These technologies are: ultrasound echography, X-raycomputerized tomography (CT) and magnet-resonance imaging (MRI). These technologies can be used both for primary tumordiagnostics, for determining its stage as well as for controlling results of treatment, for revealing recurrences and for prognosingthe outcomes. The authors have made the analysis of abovementioned technique effectiveness in revealing ovarian cancer atearly stages. They also discuss a reasonability to include in this diagnostic combination positron emission tomography (PET)and detection of marker СА-125.Кey words: diagnostics of ovarian cancer, imaging technologies, ultrasound, CT, MRI.
